Service at all levels

There are many paths to care.

“How do we pay for this?” is often a family’s first question. We help you find the path that fits — and we are with you every step of the way.

Tap a payment type, then answer a few quick questions to see whether it may fit. Many families combine benefits — we point you to every option you may qualify for.

In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) helps eligible residents get care at home. A few questions:

1. Is the person 65 or older, blind, or living with a disability expected to last a year or more?

2. Do they live in their own home in San Mateo County (not a care facility)?

3. Do they receive Medi-Cal or SSI, or live on a limited income?

4. Do they need help with daily tasks to remain safely at home?

Thank you for your service. Let’s see whether the VA can cover home care through Community Care:

1. Are you a veteran, or the spouse or surviving spouse of one?

2. Are you enrolled in VA health care?

3. Do you need help with daily activities — bathing, dressing, meals, or mobility?

4. Has a VA provider recommended home care (or would you like help requesting it)?

We’re contracted with 25+ long-term-care insurers. A few details shape your coverage:

1. Do you have a long-term care insurance policy?

2. Does the policy cover in-home care (not only facilities)?

3. Does the person need help with two or more daily activities, or have memory/cognitive decline?

4. Do you know your policy’s elimination period (the waiting days before benefits begin)?

Private pay covers families who don’t qualify under VA or County programs and don’t hold a long-term-care policy — or who simply prefer to arrange care directly. We keep it simple: clear, upfront rates, and flexible hourly or live-in care shaped around your family.

Questions about paying for care.

Generally, no. Medicare covers short-term skilled and medical care, not ongoing non-medical home care. Most families pay through private pay, long-term care insurance, Veterans benefits, or County programs.

When the VA authorizes community care, an approved provider like Chajinel can deliver it, and benefits such as Aid and Attendance may offset the cost. Enrollment and eligibility are handled directly with the VA; we are a contracted VA community provider.

Many policies do, once help is needed with two or more daily activities or there is cognitive decline. We accept 25+ long-term care insurers, verify your benefits, and can bill your insurer directly through assignment of benefits.

In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) helps eligible low-income seniors and people with disabilities on Medi-Cal receive care at home. Eligibility and the assessment are handled directly through the County; we contract with San Mateo County.

Cost depends on the hours and level of care. We keep our rates clear and, after a free in-home assessment, provide a straightforward quote so there are no surprises.

Often, yes. Families frequently combine private pay with insurance or benefits. We point you to every option you may qualify for so you can make an informed decision.
